A note on the finite fractal dimension of the global attractors for dissipative nonlinear Schrödinger‐type equations

In this article, we present, throughout two basic models of damped nonlinear Schrödinger (NLS)–type equations, a new idea to bound from above the fractal dimension of the global attractors for NLS‐type equations. This could answer the following open issue: consider, for instance, the classical one‐dimensional cubic nonlinear Schrödinger equation $$u_t+i{u}_{xx}+i|u{|}^{2}u+\gamma u=f,f\in {\mathrm{??}}^2(?).$$ “How can we bound the fractal dimension of the associate global attractor without the need to assume that the external forcing term f has some decay at infinity (that is belonging to some weighted Lebesgue space)?”     

The Green polynomials via vertex operators

An iterative formula for the Green polynomial is given using the vertex operator realization of the Hall-Littlewood function. Based on this, (1) a general combinatorial formula of the Green polynomial is given; (2) several compact formulas are given for Green's polynomials associated with upper partitions of length ≤3 and the diagonal lengths ≤3; (3) a Murnaghan-Nakayama type formula for the Green polynomial is obtained; and (4) an iterative formula is derived for the bitrace of the finite general linear group G and the Iwahori-Hecke algebra of type A on the permutation module of G by its Borel subgroup.     

Characterization of embeddings of Sobolev-type spaces into generalized Hölder spaces defined by Lp-modulus of smoothness

We prove a sharp estimate for the k-modulus of smoothness, modelled upon a $L^p$-Lebesgue space, of a function f in $W^k{L}^{\frac{pn}{n+kp},p}(\mathrm{\Omega })$, where Ω is a domain with minimally smooth boundary and finite Lebesgue measure, $k,n\in \mathbb{N}$, $k<n$ and $\frac{n}{n?k}<p<+\infty$. This sharp estimate is used to establish necessary and sufficient conditions for continuous embeddings of Sobolev-type spaces into generalized Hölder spaces defined by means of the k-modulus of smoothness. General results are illustrated with examples. In particular, we obtain a generalization of the classical Jawerth embeddings.     

Trilinear Lp estimates with applications to the Cauchy problem for the Hartree-type equation

In this paper, $L^p$ estimates for a trilinear operator associated with the Hartree type nonlinearity are proved. Moreover, as application of these estimates, it is proved that after a linear transformation, the Cauchy problem for the Hartree-type equation becomes locally well posed in the Bessel potential and homogeneous Besov spaces under certain regularity assumptions on the initial data. This notion of well-posedness and the functional framework to solve the equation were firstly proposed by Y. Zhou.
